JACK AND CHARLENE'S
HOUSE
Geyserville, California
This house was designed as a semi-retirement home on a rugged
ridge top in Sonoma County. The home’s axis runs east – west
parallel to a spectacular southern view which looks over a series
of valleys and ridges. A twenty five meter lap pool parallels
the house and underscores the view. Wide exterior overhangs at
the entry and on the south side of the primary living areas provide
shelter for exterior living. To enter the home guests must pass
through a roofed gate and cross a koi pond prior to reaching
the front door. On either side of the central axis of the home,
high clerestory windows admit light and vent summer heat. The
tile floors provide thermal mass for cooling in the summer and
are radiantly heated in the winter.
